Mariana Ju?rez and Ava Knight for WBC Flyweight Diamond Title This Saturday in Ciudad de M?xico

WBC Flyweight World Champion Mariana "La Barbie" Ju?rez (left) of M?xico and her American challenger Ava Knight paid a courtesy call to WBC President Dr. Jose Sulaiman today at the head office of the World Boxing Council in Mexico, ahead of their world title battle this Saturday October 13 at El Palacio de los Deportes in Ciudad de M?xico.
The fight will mark Mariana Ju?rez's 14th world title defense and couldn't be against a more dangerous fighter as Ava Knight is not only taller and eight years younger than Mariana, but also the reigning IBF Flyweight world champion, title that Ava conquered from then champion Mexican Arely Mucino last year at the Palenque de la Feria in Colima, M?xico.
In fact, the challenger Ava Knight (9-1-3, 5KO's) of Chico, California, has already fought three consecutive world title combats in Mexico, claiming victory in all of them, two by way of knock out; so fighting in Mexico will not be a problem at all for the good looking American nicknamed "The Lady of Boxing."
But the popular Mariana Ju?rez (35-5-3, 16KO's), who earlier this year graced the pages of the famous "Playboy" Magazine, has no intentions of surrendering her precious world title before her hometown fans in Ciudad de M?xico.
This Saturday's Flyweight title fight between the two world champions Ju?rez and Knight will be for the coveted WBC Flyweight Diamond Belt. The announcement was done by Dr. Jose Sulaiman himself:
"This fight will be for the WBC Diamond Belt - its a championship between fighters who have gone beyond into the category of excellence." The winner "will step into history with the glory of belonging to an elite group of fighters who have won a Diamond belt," concluded Sulaiman.
