ALA-EH boxing offering features 3 thrilling bouts By Dennis U. Eroa PhilBoxing.com Mon, 24 Sep 2012 ![]() RING fans will not only witness an expected slugfest between Jun ?Hercules??Doliguez and Ciso ??Kid Terrible??Morales for the World Boxing Oriental featherweight title October 13 at the Batangas City Coliseum but they will also see world-class Al ??Captain A?? Sabaupan and Bernabe Concepcion fight dangerous rivals. The fight which is open free to the public is supported by ALA-EH (Association of Local Athletics Entrepreneurs and Hobbyists). ALA-EH founded by sportsman Elmer Anuran aims to develop future world-beaters from the grassroots and provide young athletes the opportunity to show their talents. Sabaupan, stablemate of former WBA interim super flyweight champion and reigning IBF interim Pan Pacific super bantamweight titleholder Drian Francisco, battles battle-scarred Roselito Campana in one of the main supporting bouts. Sabaupan lost a thriller of a fight to Mexican Marvin Quintero in their IBF lightweight title eliminator at the Unidad Deportiva Centenarioin Mexicolast April but came back to knocked out Freddie Martinez in the first round last June at the Angono Municipal Gym in Rizal. ??I want to finish the bout early but I am not going to be careless,?? said Sabaupan, who has a 19-1, 14 KOs record. The 5-foot-7 Sabaupan hails from Sipocot, Camarines Sur but is under the watch of Touch Gloves Gym chief Anuran. Concepion (30-6-1, 16 KOs) is favored to beat Richard Olisa but the latter is capable of a stunning upset.Olisa sports a 23-18, 12 KOs record and known in the local ring circle as the Jackhammer due to his punching power. Olisa lost to Thai Chonlatarn Priyapinyo (43-0-0) for the WBC Asian Boxing Council last June at Lonkhon Village, Sakon Nakhon, Thailand. Before that loss, Olisa, who hails from Mandaluyong City, created quite a stir after downing the highly-favored James Bacon in the second round last November at the Sta. Maria Central School covered courts at Zamboanga City. ??Three fights which will be remembered by sports fans. Sabaupan and Concepcion are favorites but anything can happen in boxing. Their opponents are capable of scoring big wins,?? said the 35-year-old Anuran. ??Of course, the Doliguez-Morales clash will be action-packed.?? In an earlier interview, Doliguez (13-0-1, 9KOs) said he is going to add Morales (16-2-1, 9KOs) to his growing list of victims. He also said that he is hoping that the fight will lead to his reunion with his long-lost brother Arnel. ??I am praying that this fight will finally end my long search for my elder brother. We have no communications since we parted ways seven years ago. Maybe he will be able to contact me after learning about this bout.?? Trainer Benny dela Pe?a said they?ve already prepared a fight plan against Morales, who previously owned the WBO Oriental Super bantamweight and WBO Asia Pacific Youth bantamweight titles. Morales also fought for the world title but lost to Fernando Montiel two years ago in Las Vegas. He drew with Mexican Gregorio Torres last year at the Auditorio Principal del Cnar in Mexico City. ??Jun is ready,?? said Dela Pena. Also in the card are Touch Gloves stalwarts, who are eyeing their share of stardom. They are Lolito Sonsona and Jethro Pabustan. Anuran said ALA-EH slugfest is free to the public. ??This boxing extravaganza is going to be a night to remember. We?ve decided to make this free to the public so that my fellow Batanguenos and fans from other places will witness thrilling fights. By doing so, these fights will also serve as inspiration to those wanting to become future boxers,?? said Anuran. A keen observer and learner of the sweet science, Anuran says his ward possesses power and the courage to turn impending defeat into victory. ??Yes, Hercules can beat Kid Terrible. But Kid Terrible isn?t a so-so fighter. This is going to be one heck of a fight for Doliguez.?? Click here to view a list of other articles written by Dennis U. Eroa. ![]() |
