Batangas clash: Hercules meets the Terrible

PhilBoxing.com

WILL the ??Hercules?? of Philippine boxing be able to survive the punches of Ciso ??Kid Terrible?? Morales?

This will be answered on October `13 at the Batangas City Coliseum in Batangas, City as hard-hitters Jun ??Hercules??Doliguez and Morales exchange punches before an expected sell-out crowd. At stake is the prestigious World Boxing Organization Oriental featherweight title and the mouth-watering chance of figuring in a world title fight later this year.

Supported by the ALA-EH (Association of Local Athletics Entrepreneurs and Hobbyists),the card will also feature Al ??Captain A?? Sabaupan and other boxers from the proud and talented Saved by the Bell Promotions headed by youthful businessman-sportsman Elmer Anuran.

Still unbeaten in 13 outings, Doliguez, who trains with Sabaupan at the popular Touch Gloves Boxing Gym in Agoncillo, Batangas, faces a tough customer in Morales(16-2-1, 9KOs) The 24-year-old native ofTalibon, Bohol packs power . He previously owned the WBO Oriental Super bantamweight crown and the WBO Asia Pacific Youth bantamweight crown.

The 5-foot-6 Morales already fought for the world title but lost by knockout to Fernando Montiel two years ago at the Las Vegas-Hilton in the United States. He fought Mexican Gregorio Torres to a technical draw last year at the Auditorio Principal del Cnar in Mexico City. Last March, Morales thrilled the crowd when he TKOed Jo-as Apericio in the fourth round of their well-attended bout at the New Cebu Coliseum in Cebu City.

??Very tough test for Doliguez. We will see after this bout whether Jun is ready for international stardom,?? said Anuran.??Morales is a seasoned fighter and Doliguez needs to box very well in order to win.?? Unafraid, Doliguez, who was originally set to meet Mexican Alejandro ??Payasito?? Hernandez before negotiations got stalled, said he?s in perfect shape to upstage the pride of international matchmaker Sammy Gello-ani.

??Yes, sir, I?m ready to rumble,?? said Doliguez, who knocked out battle-scarred Ariel Delgado (20-8-4) in his last bout.??I want to become a world champion someday and this bout will help me achieve my dream. Boss Elmer (Anuran) toldme that this is huge test for me. Doliguez admitted that fighting in front of Batangue?os will be a tremendous help. ??I don?t want to disappoint the fans. I train at Agoncillo, Batangas and I have lots of friends here. It will be a shame if I lost infront of them.??

Anuran, known for his sports program in the grassroots level, said his fellow Batangue?os will watch a world-class bout. ??I would like to thank Sammy Gello-ani for agreeing to pit Morales against Doliguez. The fightcard as a whole is a blockbuster,?? said Anuran.

To give Batangue?os the chance to see the action live, Anuran said the card is open free to the public. The Coliseum has a seating capacity of 6,000.

??This is going to be a night to remember,?? Anuran concluded.
