PATONG BEACH, Phuket - After twelve entertaining rounds, Filipino flyweight Fernando Ocon lost by points to WBO Oriental Champion Kwanpichit 13 Rien Express of Thailand today here at the Bangla Boxing Stadium in Patong Beach in Phuket, Southern Thailand.
The world's #5 flyweight Kwanpichit (17-0, 6KO's), a veteran of more than 300 muay thai combats, took an early lead scoring power blows, which were taking well by taken by the strong and resolute Fernando Ocon who fought back and never backed away from fire.
Constant furious exchanges of leather were produced in the middle of the ring, being the experienced Thai the most dominant warrior, especially with well-placed blows to the Ocon's mid section.
Ocon, the 21 year-old Filipino southpaw born in Bohol, now a Cebu resident, performed better during the final stretch of the combat displaying quick effective moves and scoring well with his jab and left cross, but ran out of rounds.
There were no knockdowns, no cuts and no warrior was in serious trouble of losing by knock out in the intense combat graced by the elegant Ms. Pariyakorn Rattanasuran, president of Onesongchai Boxing Promotions, the top promotion company in the Kinddom of Thailand.
Also in attendance was Onesongchai's main sponsor for the fight, Mr. Piya Issaramalai, president of the power Tiger Group.
The Filipino did extremely well against a formidable world rated strong opponent with much experience and ring savvy
The Kwanpichit-Ocon fight was televised live throughout Thailand on Channel 7.
