NBA PLAYOFFS - Bulls seek redemption in Game 3 By Fakhouri Amjid PhilBoxing.com Fri, 04 May 2012 CHICAGO -- The Bulls did not just lose Game 2 of their series against Philadelphia last Tuesday night at the United Center, the No.1 overall seed in these NBA playoffs also lost homecourt advantage, a perk they got by finishing the regular season with a league best 50-16 record. The Bulls didn't just got beat. They got beaten badly, surrendering 109 points by allowing the Sixers to shoot 46 of 78 field goals for a high 59 percent. The Bulls were also uncharacteristically outrebounded, 38-32. As they aim to right the ship in Game 3, Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau demands better effort than the one his chargers put together in Game 2's embarassing 109-92 bashing in front of over 22,000 of Chicago's home fans. "We made our job more difficult for us, "Thibodeau told the Chicago Tribune. "It started with having poor floor balance when the ball was shot, not giving the appropriate help, not having the proper technique on the ball, not haivng multiple effort." Reversing their fortune will be an uphill climb for the Bulls, who lost their team captain and heart and soul to a series-ending torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) sustained in Game 1's 103-91 victory. The reigning MVP will be sidelined for up to six months. But Thibodeau, last year's NBA Coach of the Year, maintains that the Bulls have more than enough to win. "The bottom line is we have to fight. We have to dig in, have more determination. We're more than capable," he reiterated. Easier said than done as the Sixers head home to Philadelphia for Games 3 and 4 at the Wells Fargo Center. Tied at 1-1, this best-of-7 series shifts back to Chicago for Game 5, back to Philly for a possible Game 6 before returning yet again to the United Center, if needed, for a winner-take-all Game 7. Somewhere in between, a tough and exciting looms. (Amjid Fakhouri) Click here to view a list of other articles written by Fakhouri Amjid. |
