Bangkok---Filipino teen standout Jerick Faeldonia downs Bang Fu-Yeh of Chinese-Taipei to claim an early share of the lead in the 2nd Bangkok Summer International Chess Open Wednesday, July 29, 2026 here at the Royal Benja Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.
Playing black ,the 17 year old Faeldonia prevailed after 28 moves of Sicilian Defense, Kann variation.
" I hope I can hold on to the momentum," said Faeldonia, a Grade 11 student of Arellano University, a certified an online Arena International Master.
Joining Faeldonia on top with 3.0 points are National Master Almario Marlon Quiroz Bernardino Jr., Lorenzo Aaron Cantela,John Paul de Guzman, Ivan Resti Garcia and Don Julio Ezekiel Turla of the Philippines, Jarunpol Sajapornthep , Chawakorn Maetavittayakorn, Gavin Siridanupath and Proudpitcha Suthiponpaisarn of Thailand, Nguyen Hoang Vi and Nguyen Sy Le of Vietnam, and Prakash Satyam of India.
