Fighting heart to lift Sabaupan By Dennis U. Eroa PhilBoxing.com Thu, 12 Apr 2012 ![]() Sabaupan. BATTLE-grizzled mentor Benny de la Pe?a believes that the fighting heart of Al ??Captain A?? Sabaupan will power the no-nonsense slugger from Touch Gloves Boxing Gym to an all-important victory over Marvin ?Cachorro? Quintero (24-3, 20 KOs) of Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, when they clash on April 21 (April 22 in Manila). Dubbed as a showdown between two hard-punching boxers with take-no-prisoner stance, the Sabaupan (18-0-1, 13 KOs)-Quintero clash at Unidad Deportiva Centenario,Morelia, Michoac?n de Ocampo in Mexico City. is expexted to be fast and furious. The winner of the slugfest will have a crack at the International Boxing Federation lightweight title being held by Miguel V?zquez (30-3, 13 KOs). ??Al is not going to back down. He will give everything to win this bout. He is unfazed despite the fact that he?s fighting for the first time outside the Philippines. He will be delighted to beat Quintero in Mexico City,?? said the soft-spoken De La Pe?a,who once trained boxers in Japan. He also moulded former WBA interim titleholder Drian ??Golden Fists?? Francisco. Like De la Pe?a, Saved by the Bell Promotions president and youthful Batangue?o sportsman-businessman Elmer Anuran said that he is not doubting the courage and determination of Sabaupan to shock Quintero. ??I know that Al will not say no to this fight. He?s going to fight anywhere just to gain a chance to become world champion. Al prepared hard for this fight and I?m sure he will be at his best come fight night,?? said Anuran, who is known for his sports development projects in the grassroots under the Association of Local Athletics Entrepreneurs and Hobbyists (ALA-EH) banner. De la Pe?a , assistant coach Boy Donaire and Sabaupan and the rest of the team are expected to fly to Mexico on Saturday. Anuran pointed out. ??Al sparred very well and he will be in tiptop shape against Quintero.?? Anuran will join the team in Mexico City. He had earlier predicted that Sabaupan will have a huge chance to win if his fighter can survive the earlier rounds. ??Based on his last fights, Quintero has the tendency to fade away in the later round. In an earlier interview, Quintero vowed to beat the Filipino warrior known for being a look-alike of ring icon Manny Pacquiao. Quintero said he wanted badly the IBF 135-pound crown. Quintero said he worked hard for the bout presented by promoted by Gary Shaw Productions and Zanfer Promotions. ??My hands will be raised at the end of the bout,?? Quintero was quoted in an interview. Told of Quintero?s vow, Sabaupan, a native of Sipocot in Bicol Region, said he isn?t bothered at all. In fact, he prays that Quintero will not ??dance?? during their bout. ??Let us see after the bout.Let us see,?? a smiling Sabaupan said.
