FIL-AM JESSICA SANCHEZ MAKES THE TOUR AT AMERICAN IDOL

PhilBoxing.com

Fil-Am American Idol contestant and San Diego resident, Jessica Sanchez, still remains in the loop as America saves her with their votes after a not-so-great performance the other night in the second week of the finals or top 13 competition. Thanks to her previous awesome and memorable performance that America still believes in her great talent. Because of this, she is now officially part of the American Idol summer tour being in the top 10.

Jessica ventured into a not familiar territory by singing Gloria Stefan?s ?Turn the Beat Around? from 1995 in the year she was born. The rule for the week was that the contestants would sing a song from the years they were born. She seemed to be shouty at times. Steven Tyler said ?Jessica, I love your voice? I love your voice. But you can?t stray too far from what I think you sing the best which is ballad and the rhythm that you sang with the song is a little shady. But I love your pants.?

?I heard the same thing. It?s that type of thing that your voice has such a strong bravado which is so beautiful on certain songs but on the songs like this that you really have to be syncopated and on that beat it lag a little bit behind so it lost a little bit of energy. Even though, you sang it great but it?s not about that, it?s about having just the rhythm on those types of song. So you really, really, just kill it, So, for me not my favorite thing I?ve seen you do but good job,? JLo said.
On the other hand, Randy Jackson was more of a father figure in giving her positive criticism. ?You are one of the greatest in this competition and so I feel we need to steer you always in the right direction and give you great constructive criticism. The problem for me is the song choice. You got this big old voice and the song did not allow you to show that and not that you need to show it every time but pick something more that you can really play to make your own because you are that good.? Jessica blamed it on the year she was born, ?there was not a lot to choose from. It was really hard and I work really hard to fit my song and it was really a challenge.?

American Idol?s regular weekly mentor, Jimmy Iovine, warned last week that Jessica might fall from over confidence. Jessica promised to be more careful and choosy if given another chance.
In the rehearsal, the guest mentor, will.I.am of the successful rapper group ?The Black Eyed Peas? where another Fil-Am, apl.de.ap. (born Allan Pineda Lindo, Jr. in Pampanga from a Filipina mother and African-American father) is part of the group said of her, ?it?s kind of daring, to set yourself up to say, yo check this out and have to pull up this stunt of power. She took it even hard and didn?t sweat. Wow 16.. are you crazy? Are you swagger or not? Swagging like out of space swag.?
The judges? standing ovation this time around was accorded to Joshua Ledet with his performance of ?When a Man Loves a Woman.? Jennifer Lopez was elated when Joshua removed his white jacket in bravado in the middle of the song. Jennifer stood up applauding followed by the other two judges.

Ryan Seacreast asked the judges whom they think was the safest and in danger among the contestants. All judges declared Joshua the safest. Randy said Heejun Han was in danger but the other two judges left it to America to decide.

In an online survey conducted by the website wetpaint.com as ?who you think is going home,? 27.05% goes to Heejun Hun while Jessica Sanchez is still loved at 1.99%, the fifth safest contestant of the night. However, 18.61% of those who participated in the survey thinks that no one will go home this week, thanks to Jermaine Jones. ?The Gentle Giant? as Ryan Seacrest fondly called him was booted off without even performing due to past misconduct contrary to American Idol?s policy.

Steven Tyler still thinks that Jessica Sanchez is still one of the contestants that is safe.

Jimmy Iovine, American Idol?s regular weekly mentor commented on Jessica?s performance the night before, ?She screamed and when she screamed she was out of breath and when she was out of breath she was out of rhythm.? However, Iovine still loves Jessica. ?If she is out, we will all go home,? earning a backlash from American Idol judge Randy Jackson which he just laugh off.

Finally, when the gavel was finally put down Thursday night, Shannon McGrane who sang Mariah Carey?s ?One Sweet Day? was eliminated having the lowest number of votes among the contestants.

The judges would not used one of their ?save? to keep McGrane when Ryan Seacrest asked them if they want to use it.
