Pinoy Allan Tanada 128 lbs, Puerto Rico's Gamalier Rodriguez 128 lbs for tomorrow's fight in Puerto Rico

PhilBoxing.com

Promising Filipino featherweight Allan Tanada (11-1-2, 5KO's) and his tough Puerto Rican opponent Gamalier Rodriguez (17-2-3, 12KO's) weighed-in 128 lbs., ahead of their battle of tomorrow at the historic Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The interesting Tanada-Rodriguez fight is one of the featured 8-round combats that will heat up the much awaited "Lopez vs Salido 2: The Rematch" card.

During the face off at the plush Hotel Verdanza in Isla Verde, both fighters shook hands and looked at each other intensively in the eyes.

Local fighter, Puertorican Gamalier Rodriguez, 25, won all his nine fights during his 2011 campaign in the Dominican Republic. Eight of his nine victories last year were by KO.

However, those nine opponents of Rodriguez were all genuine and certified patsies.

Rodriguez's fight of tomorrow against Allan Tanada will be a good step forward in class. True that Tanada is only 20 years old, yet is talented than any of the opponents Rodriguez has ever had.

For Allan Tanada, who hails from Ipil, Zamboanga, tomorrow's combat against Rodriguez will be a golden opportunity to showcase his boxing skills before the eyes of a large audience.

Some of the big names present at the fight will include the WBO Chairman of Ratings Committee Luis A. Perez, WBO President Pablo Varcarcel, boxing super stars Juan Manuel "Dinamita" Marquez, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., and Tito Trinidad, plus the real cr?me de la cr?me of WBO organization.

Indeed, a good time for Tanada to shine.

During his three-year boxing career, the fast-paced Allan Tanada has fought two times in Japan, once at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas and has been OPBF featherweight king as well as WBO Asia Pacific Youth super featherweight champion.

Tanada's only defeat was a fifth round technical knockout loss to then undefeated Japanese KO artist Masao Nakamura in December of 2010.

The Tanada-Nakamura was an intense combat in which Tanada sent Nakamura to the deck in round two. Nakamura returned the favor even worst, knocking Tanada out in round five.

However Nakamura's happiness did not last long.

Just couple months later that victory of Nakamura over Tanada was well avenged by fellow Filipino kababayan Ronald Pontillas who went to Osaka to stunningly rocked then undefeated Masao Nakamura, dropped him twice, then knocked the japanese out at the 61 seconds mark of one round. Nakamura has now a record of (12-1 12KOs).

"Batang Sibugay" Allan Tanada has been handled by Rommel Nazario and has received his boxing lessons from trainers Nonoy Neri, Buboy Fernandez and Fernando Montilla.
