GREAT TV RATINGS FOR DONAIRE-VAZQUEZ JR TITLE FIGHT By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Wed, 08 Feb 2012  The Filipinos passion for boxing and the growing popularity of pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao?s heir apparent, Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire, translated into great ratings in the battle for the vacant WBO super bantamweight title which Donaire won handily beating former champion Wilfredo Vazquez Jr at the Alamadome in San Antonio, Texas last Sunday, Manila Time, telecast by the giant broadcast network ABS-CBN. The Top Rank promotion titled ?Welcome To The Future? saw the Donaire-Vazquez Jr title fight garner a huge 32.6 percent rating for Total Philippines while GMA 7 rated 15.0 percent on the same time slot according to Kantar Media ? TNS National Household Ratings. The highest ratings were registered in South Luzon with a phenomenal 49.7 percent followed by Mindanao with 44.6 percent and another hotbed of boxing, the Visayas, with a rating of 40.1 percent. In Metro Manila the Donaire-Vazquez Jr title fight rated 29.2 percent and in Mega Manila 27.3 percent while the Suburbs turned in a rating of 24.8 percent. The rest or the balance of Luzon reported a high 33.5 percent while North Luzon was at 28.7 percent. The only region where GMA 7 apparently out-rated the boxing was in Central Luzon where the Donaire-Vazquez Jr showdown rated 21.6 percent on ABS-CBN while GMA rated 22.8 percent on the same time slot. Even the undercard fights telecast on a slightly delayed basis by ABS-CBN on its pre-eminent Channel 2 out-rated GMA with Alex Saucedo?s spectacular 1st round KO of Jean Colon rating 11.9 percent, undefeated Vanes Martirosyan?s 3rd round TKO of Troy Lowry turning in a 14.3 rating and the Raul Hirales ?
