FM HARIDAS PASCUA TOPS CASTANEDA CHESS TOURNEY

MANGATAREM'S Fide Master Haridas Pascua brought honor to his hometown by emerging as the tournament?s champion in the 3rd Mayor Jonas Castaneda Open Chess Tournament last December 26 and 27 at the Lingayen Municipal Hall in Lingayen,Pangasinan.
Pascua, bagged a P5,000 cash prize plus trophy, scored 6.5 points in seven outings in this annual event, organized by Pangasinan Chess Federation (PCF) headed by it's President Juan Vicente R. Sison and Secretary-General Ron Vergara.
Tied for second to fourth place, with 5.5 points each, were Dick Gicain of Lingayen, Mark Prince Aquino of San Nicolas and top lady WFM Cherry Ann Mejia of Labrador.
Fifth to 11th place, with 5 points each, were Giovani Mejia of Labrador, Fidel Labuanan of Binalonan, Leo Abalos, Manny Margajay, Romy Fagon and Narguingel Reyes of Lingayen and top senior Verth Alora of Anda, Pangasinan.
Meanwhile, Brylle Vinluan and Benjamin Cortez tallied 6 points apiece to share the top honors in the kiddies category. At third place is John Mark Anastacio who tote 5.5 points.
