JHONNY GONZALEZ VS ROINET CABALLERO FOR WBC FEATHERWEIGHT TITLE SUNDAY
By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Fri, 02 Dec 2011

CIUDAD DE MEXICO -- WBC featherweight champion Mexican star Jhonny Gonzalez (50-7, 44KO's) will be making the third defense of his featherweight crown against challenger Roinet ?El Mus? Caballero of Panama on Saturday (Sunday in Manila) at Centro Benamex in Mexico City.
Jhonny Gonzalez, 30, who is trained by legendary Mexican trainer Con Ignacion "Nacho" Beristain, has been WBO bantamweight and WBC featherweight world champion. The heavy hitting Mexican lost his bantamweight world crown to legendary Filipino Gerry Penalosa.
In April of this year, Gonzalez became world champion again. "El Jhonny" claimed the WBC featherweight title by knocking out dangerous Japanese Hozumi Hasegawa in Kobe. Gonzalez is mostly remembered by epic super bantamweight battle with Israel "El Magnifico" Vasquez.
Meanwhile, Jhonny's challenger, Roinet Caballero (31-10-1, 22KO's) who has no relation to fellow Panamanian current WBA featherweight world champion Celestino ?Pelenchin? Caballero (35-4, 23KO's), is a 28-year-old experienced slugger most willing to become the 30th boxing world champion born in Panama.
Weigh-ins for the Jhonny Gonzalez-Roinet Caballero and the Alejandro Sanabria-Vinvin Rufino WBC title fights will take place at the office of the Comision de Boxeo Profesional de Mexico tomorrow at 12noon (Ciudad de Mexico time).
This "Mi Tierra" card is organized and promoted by Promociones del Pueblo of Ciudad Juarez and will be broadcasted by ESPN Deportes in the United States and by Televisa here in the Mexico.
