Marlon ?D Bulldozer? Tapales decisions Uganda?s Martin Mubiru in Cebu By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Tue, 11 Oct 2011 LILOAN, Cebu - In a tough contest in the bantamweight division, Filipino prospect Marlon ?D Bulldozer? Tapales defeated dangerous Ugandan Martin Mubiru via 10-rounds unanimous decision October 9 at the Panphil B. Frasco Memorial Sports Complex in Liloan, Cebu. With his good defense, Tapales (19-1, 6KO?s) from Lanao del Norte, was able to control the early rough attacks dished out by the committed to win well-trained African warrior. However, the southpaw Tapales, who is not owner of a big KO ratio, was able to pin Mubiru against the ropes and punish him with potent right hooks and straight rights that sent the African for the first time to the canvas. Mubiru quickly recovered and continued in fighting mode till the arrival of the hugely exciting rounds 6th and 7th in which ?D Bulldozer? Tapales once more knocked down Mubiru. Up to this moment of the fight Mubiru has gone down three times, but the African iron man was far from done and more thrills were making their way through. Because Mubiru, who has campaigned and claimed KO victories in Japan, was always willing and able to stand up from the floor and get it on in full speed toe-to-toe action against the young Filipino Tapales, a stance that excited the young crowd enjoying this Sunday evening event of boxing in Liloan. In rounds 6th and 7th Mubiru was correctly penalized by referee for the headbutts that opened a one-inch cut under Tapale?s right eyebrow. Official scores for this combat were 97-89 and 96-90 (twice) all in favor of the winner by unanimous decision Marlon ?D Bulldozer? Tapales. The fight card in Liloan, Cebu, was organized and presented by popular promoter Cebu?s Rex ?Wakee? Salud of RWS International in association with GMA TV.
