Bullstrong Demecillo KO?s Bantigue, becomes new RP interim Super Flyweight Champ

PhilBoxing.com

LILOAN, Cebu -- In an exciting combat, undefeated Marco Demecillo (15-0-1, 11KO?s) of Lanao del Norte impressively dismantled the more experienced Louie Bantigue via 9th round technical KO to become the new RP super flyweight champion at the Panphil B. Frasco Memorial Sports Complex Sunday night (Oct 9) in Liloan, Cebu.

The promising 21-year-old Marco Demecillo, a prot?g? of popular boxing patrons Rex ?Wakee? Salud and Naris Singwancha, wasted no time in using his better punching power and fighting skills to dominate the brave but overmatch Louie ?Kamaong Mandaue? Bantigue (21-16-7, 12KO?s).

From the start of the fight Bantigue was game, but Demecillo was more potent and accurate dishing out his blows in bunches and showing more orderly attacks, focus and defense.

The dominance of Demecillo became even more evident after one of his furious combinations initiated with a violent straight right dropped Bantigue during the action of round four.

Bantigue stood up and went on fighting his younger and more aggressive opponent until the arrival of the fateful round nine when a worn out Bantigue visited the canvas for a second time in the combat.

More relentless attacks thrown by Demecillo floored Bantigue two more times until experienced referee Mr. Teddy Alivio correctly halted all actions declaring Marco Demecillo winner by technical KO at 1:16 seconds of round nine.

A warrior's heart Bantigue, who was knocked down a total four times during the fight, seemed to protest the stoppage, but the referee's decision was perfect and timely as there was no need for any unnecessary punishment.

The intense and entertaining fight card Sunday night in Liloan, Cebu was presented and organized by international matchmaker and promoter Rex ?Wakee? Salud of RWS International in association with GMA TV.
