HE tried to hide it by covering his face with his cap, but former World Boxing Association interim super flyweight titleholder Drian ??Golden Fists?? Francisco could not stop the tears from flowing in front of an enthusiastic crowd of ring fans, officials and mediamen at the Tiara Oriental Hotel in Makati City.

Now 28, Francisco, a college degree holder from Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro, admitted that he?s still hurting after faltering against Thai fighter Tepparith Singwancha in his first title defense last May 1 at Udon Thani in Thailand. Francisco vowed it will not happen again.

??I?ve learned my lessons well. I don?t want to taste another loss,?? Francisco of the Touch Gloves Boxing Gym said.
A day after meeting sportswriters, Francisco was back to his usual self. He looked confident and determined during the weigh-in last Thursday. From the looks of it, Francisco?s man on a mission for redemption.

??This bout is a bout for redemption for Drian, He?s no longer getting any younger and this bout may define his career,?? said Saved by the Bell Promotion president Elmer Anuran. SBB and Solar Sports put up the fightcard which is being heralded by boxing circles as one of the best promotions in recenr years.
Francisco (20-1-1,16 KOs) and counterpart Michael Domingo of the famed ALA Promotion breezed through the weigh-in yesterday. Both tipped the scales at 120 pounds. Games and Amusements Board officials headed by boxing chief Dr.Nasser Cruz witnessed the event.

Domingo had earlier predicted that somebody?s going to fall in the bout which is free to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. Pinoy Warriors will start at 6p.m. and Anuran enjoins the fans to come early for the free tickets.

Accompanied by ALA vice-president Dennis Ca?ete and veteran trainer Edito Villamor, Domingo said that he has prepared hard for this bout which will help him regain his lofty stature in the international stage.

??I have high respects for Drian. But we?re two warriors looking for a win come Friday. My team has already devised a plan for the bout,?? said Domingo.

Francisco also expressed his admiration for Domingo. ?? Michael?s a true warrior. He wants to win ,I want to win. Fans can expect a thrilling but clean fight,?? said Francisco.
Anuran said big things are in store for his ward in case of a win. ?? We?re looking at international fights which will lead him back to his quest for a world title. As his promoter, I?ll always support him.??
