NACHO BERISTAIN : MARQUEZ WILL WEIGH 146-147 LBS. ON FIGHT NIGHT By Atty. Danrex Joseph V. Tapdasan PhilBoxing.com Sun, 04 Sep 2011 Nacho Beristain, the "Maestro" of WBO welterweight challenger Juan Manuel "Dinamita" Marquez (53-5-1, 39 KOs), revealed to Philboxing.com publisher Dong Secuya and Dr. Rene Bonsubre (Contributing Editor) that Marquez will weigh around 146-147 lbs. when he climbs the ring around 10pm of November 12, Las vegas, Nevada time against defending WBO champion Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao (53-3-2, 38 KOs). Beristain gave an exclusive interview for Philboxing with the kind intercession of Top Rank Public Relations Director Ricardo Jimenez, at the hotel lobby of the building who acquired the first air-conditioner in the history of the whole Philippines. According to Marquez' mentor, in his fighter's recent fights, he always weighs around 146 lbs. more or less on fight night after he weighed in at 134 or 135 lbs. during the official weigh in more than 24 hours before fight night. Having said that, Nacho concluded that Marquez will bring the same speed and quick reflexes when he fought Pacquiao in 2004 and 2008. The interview would not have been possible without the generous help of Panamanian boxing aficionado and fellow Philboxing writer, Carlos Costa who was the interpreter for the Spanish-speaking Hall of Fame trainer. The writer is a lawyer by profession, a Professional Boxing Referee and Judge from the Philippines accredited by the Association of Boxing Commissions (ABC), as well as a part of the pool of officials licensed by the World Boxing Organization (WBO) and International Boxing Federation (IBF).
