PACQUIAO-MORALES 3 IS ON AT 130 LBS!
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Fri, 21 Apr 2006
The final hump to the much-anticipated rubbermatch between pound-for-pound superstars Manny Pacquiao and Erik Morales has just been hurdled and the fight is now set to go sometime in October or November after the Tijuana finally native agreed to fight the fire-breathing Filipino at the contract weight of 130 lbs.
Promoter Bob Arum, in an interview with leading website Maxboxing.com, yesterday revealed for the very first time that the prospect of Manny Pacquiao and Erik Morales breaking the weight impasse is almost certain after Morales agreed to follow what had been stipulated in the rubbermatch contract.
"Morales has agreed to go at 130 pounds. We're going to do it at 130 and we're going to do it in October or November," Arum told Steve Kim.
Pacquiao, meanwhile, remains confident that the third fight with Morales will finally push through, although he remains focused on his upcoming fight with Oscar Larios on July 2.
Pacquiao, in an interview the other night at the GAB Boxing Convention where he was handed by Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita and chairman Eric Buhain the "Boxer of the Year" award, informed that he will definitely give Morales a third fight, although he emphasized he is not looking past the dangerous Larios.
Pacquiao is set to fly to the United States next month to start rigid training for the Larios fight, then return to the country in June to continue his training at a secluded training camp in Baguio City.
Rex "Wakee" Salud, a close associate of the Filipino boxing icon, earlier said that Pacquiao is also set to attend various press conferences for the Larios fight in the US.
