Pe?alosa Jr. cruises to his 6th consecutive KO (with photos) By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Wed, 10 Aug 2011 CEBU, Philippines - Undefeated super bantamweight prospect Dodie Boy Pe?alosa Jr., whose father and uncle have been world champions, continued his successful knockout streak by destroying Thailander Kong KiatprachaGym in the third round of their clash held Saturday at the Mandaue Sports Complex in Cebu, Philippines last Saturday Aug 6. Beginning from the sound of first bell Dodie Boy Pe?alosa Jr. proved to be the most aggressive and fastest fighter making good use of his height and reach advantage to connect to his foe Kong with powerful blows which were rapidly undermining the strength of the brave Thai fighter. Kong, who fights using a stance of Muay Thai (the martial art of Thailand which also uses kicks), showed courage and desire to win despite the barrage of leather thrown by Pe?alosa. But the Thai fighter lacked the artillery required to mount a meaningful counter attack. As the war progressed Pe?alosa appeared more effective, strong and was easily winning all the rounds. In contrast, the strikes launched by Kong had neither the stamina nor the technique needed to slow down the popular nephew of former 2-division world champion Gerry Pe?alosa. The inevitable: an accurate and powerful body shot dished out by Dodie Boy Jr into the midsection of the Thailander was the impact that made the final damage. Kong fell to the canvas. Photos by Carlos Costa. Kong bravely managed to stand up, but it was all a matter of time. Another merciless assault fell on the humanity of Thailander Kong till the battle was stopped. The timekeeper's watch stopped at exactly 2:16 of the third stanza. With this convincing win the popular Filipino Dodie Boy Pe?alosa Jr., achieved his sixth knockout in six starts. After Dodie Boy Jr.'s triumph, his uncle Gerry Pe?alosa commented that a possible next fight of the young Pe?alosa could be in one of the coveted preliminary bouts in the mega blockbuster card Pacquiao vs Marquez III on November 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. "We are all so happy for the victory of my Dodie Boy Jr. and what a great birthday present for me!" said Gerry who had his birthday last Sunday (August 7). "He (Dodie Boy Jr.) has much to learn and for our family it is a blessing and joy to support him," said the proud uncle, who reigned as super flyweight and bantamweight world champion.
