CANILLAS COMES BACK STRONG AFTER A LOSS, WINS PABA SUPERBANTAM TITLE IN THAILAND
PhilBoxing.com Sat, 23 Apr 2011

Bangkok, Thailand -- It was literally a Good Friday for ALA Promotions' super bantamweight fighter Larry "Bon Jovi" Canillas as he finally won his first career title, the PABA Super Bantamweight Championship against hot Thai prospect Sukkasem Kietyongyuthi in Ratchaburi Friday.
It was an action filled fight with both fighters going at it as soon as the opening bell rang. Canillas, known for his brawling style, caught the game Thai and floored him early but showing pride and guts the 23 year old Kietyongyuth, undefeated before this fight, recovered and tagged the Filipino with shots of his own bringing the crowd to life and in the process himself back into the fight.
The next few rounds saw both fighters giving and taking shots and another powerful punch landed on the the Thai flooring him for the second time in the bout. The resilient homeboy fought his heart out trying all he can not to let down his country folk in attendance but the comebacking Canillas just had to much for the Thai fighter.
Canillas continued to pound on the gutsy Kietyongyuth finally forcing the referee to halt the fight in the 9th round of their scheduled 12 round title encounter.
The victory of the Toledo City native Canillas came extra sweet as this was the young Filipino's come back fight after absorbing his third career loss at the hands of fellow Filipino veteran fighter Ramie Laput months back and likewise avenged fellow Filipino and friend Mark Gil Melligen's loss to the Thai late last year.
Bon Jovi Canillas and Trainer Joseph Baldago will be flying back to the Philippines Saturday and will be spending Easter Sunday and their championship victory in Cebu City.
