PhilBoxing.com Tue, 31 Jan 2006
Growing up as the son of a poor fisherman from Davao City, Philippines, Diosdado Gabi is well acquainted with hardships and knows the meaning of personal and family sacrifices.
In August 2005 Gabi made very difficult life altering decisions and traveled to the United States of America under new management to advance his professional boxing career in hopes of providing a better life / living for his wife and 11 month old son.
Since his arrival in America 7 months ago there has been limited communications with his immediate family in the Philippines. However, there may be a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow resulting from Gabi’s continued perseverance.
Diosdado "The Prince" Gabi displays his form as he prepares for his title quest against IBF Flyweight champion Vic Darchinyan of Australia on March 3, 2006 at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, California.
In an e-mail Gabi’s American manager Michael Koncz confirmed that on March 3, 2006 Gabi will fight the hard-hitting Australian IBF World Champion, Vic Darchinyan who is now promoted by Gary Shaw. The world Title bout will take place at the Chumash Casino and Resort in Santa Ynez, California and will be televised by Showtime as the Main event on their Show-box series.
