FRANCISCO, DUANGPETCH WANT TO FINISH BOUT EARLY By Dennis U. Eroa PhilBoxing.com Tue, 30 Nov 2010 ![]() BUENG KAN, Thailand -- HE's ready to rumble. After breezing through the weigh-in, WBA international super flyweight titleholder Drian Francisco said he's raring to do battle against battle-scarred Thai boxer Duangpetch Kokietgym November 30, Tuesday at a makeshift ring inside an open football field here. ''This is it,'' said the pride of Touch Gloves Boxing Gym. ''This is an oppurtunity I don't want to waste. I want to finish Duangpetch early.'' The 30-year-old Duangpetch, who boasts of an impressive 52-1-1, 21 KOs slate. Like Drian, the Thai veteran also weighed 115 pounds during the weigh in attended by representatives from the WBA headed by supervisor Tsuyoshi Yasukochi of Japan. Also present were judges Guillermo Perez Pineda of Panama, Wan Soo-Yuh of Korea and Japanese Takeshi Shimakawa,. Team Francisco was headed by Saved by the Bell Promotions president and Francisco manager Elmer Anuran, while Thai international promoter Kokiet Pancharayom Games and Amusements chairman Ramon Guanzon and chief of boxing Dr. Nasser Cruz also witnessed the weigh in covered live by Thai television. Tagged as underdog, Francisco (19-0-1, 15KOs), said he is determined to bring the WBA interim belt back to the Philippines. ''This fight is huge. /I want to bring honor not only to my family but to my country as well.'' But Duangpetch is also determined not to disappoint his countrymen. Hew promised to knock out the Pinoy pride in the 5th round. ''Your fighter will be finished by the fifth round. After studying the tapes of his previous bouts, I think he is very beatable,'' said a confident Kokietgym flanked by his manager Atapong Aumanan. Francisco, holder of a college degree, however, replied. We're on the same boat, I also love to knock him out. Let's wait and see because I'm ready for anything,'' said Francisco, whose unorthodox style has baffled ring experts. Looking relaxed and confident, Francisco with his brother Llolyd, had a leisurely walk in the well-paved boulevard fronting the Mekong River. '' No pressure at all. I'm ready,'' Dubbed as Golden Fists because of his immaculate record, Francisco he wants to go home with the interim title.'' I ask for the prayers of ring fans back back home. This is a difficult fight but I prepared hard for this and determined to bring honor to our country.'' Kokietgym, a native of Saraburi, said he's determined to add Francisco to his growing list of Filipino victims.'' I'm in very good condition. I want to give Thais a good show.'' Anuran joined by his brother Danny and Team Francisco officials Rommel Santiago and Rod Nebiar said the Thai boxer will exchange punches with a stronger and fluid Francisco. ''Drian knows what to do. The Thai is in for a surprise. Let's pray for Drian's victory,'' said Anuran, who earlier kept his cool when nobod among the hosts could tell the venue of the weigh-in. ''I don't want any distraction. We came here in good faith and Drian, gallant and determined, will fight before Thai fans.'' Click here to view a list of other articles written by Dennis U.
