SALUDAR STOPS OBIDOS TO WIN WBO YOUTH TITLE!
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Sun, 21 Nov 2010
IMUS, CAVITE--Undefeated young prospect Froilan "The Sniper" Saludar has just put himself in the country's best prospects list with a stellar performance last night, stopping Benguet's Remuel Obidos at 2:26 of the first round to win the WBO Asia Pacific Youth flyweight title at the covered court here.
Saludar, who fights like a Floyd Mayweather Jr with a warrior heart, tagged Obidos with a big right that had Obidos falling to the canvas face first and referee Sammy Bernabe immediately ordered a halt to the fight.
WBO Vice President for Asia Pacific Leon Panoncillo, who was at ringside to supervise the fight, described the win as "very impressive" while promoter Sammy Gello-ani was visibly ecstatic with his boy's victory.
The event was promoted by SGG Promotions and Sampson Boxing LLC of renowned boxing man Sampson "Picasso" Lewkowicz.
On the undercard, John Mark Apolinario was held to a majority draw with Arman Casa, while Roberto Udtuhan proved tougher down the stretch to outpoint Rex Olisa of Elorde Boxing.
Another top prospect, Jerwin "Pretty Boy" Ancajas stopped Julius Agcopra in the third round, while Carlo Suello stopped Anthony Balubar in the first.
Cerilo Espino won via disqualification over Rodney Rafols, while young Conrado Tanamor decisioned Jaseme De la Cerna even as Ivan Soriano outpointed Wilber Andogan.
