VEGAS TRAINER SAYS MELLIGEN TOO FAST FOR HERNANDEZ
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Wed, 27 Oct 2010

Las Vegas trainer Tony Martin, in town for this Saturday's "Pinoy Pride" event at the Waterfront Hotel, sounded confident that his ward Mark Jason Melligen will be too fast for visiting Mexican fighter Bladimir Hernandez when they clash in a ten-round non-title bout.
"The question really is not whether Melligen will win, but how he will look on Saturday. If he is impressive, then sky is the limit," Martin told writers yesterday during a press conference arranged by ALA Promotions for the visiting fighters at the Maya Restaurant.
"Mark is too fast, too strong for him. He said he will attack Mark's body? But his body will move too," added Martin, who was also a bit too happy over recent reports pointing to a possible tie up between ALA Promotions and Bob Arum's Top Rank.
Martin, head of the ALA Promotions' international operations, flew in from Las Vegas to personally assist his ward for this Saturday's fight. He is set to fly back to the US on Sunday.
"Pinoy Pride", presented by ALA Promotions and ABS-CBN Sports, will topbill AJ "Bazooka" Banal taking on Nicaraguan two division world champion Luis Alberto Perez in a ten-round non-title bout.
Also appearing is lightweight sensation Jason Pagara who will take on Thailand's Sapapetch Sor Sakaorat while youngster Bon Jovi Canillas plunges into action against veteran Ramie Laput in a highly anticipated showdown.
The by-invitation official press conference for the event will take place on Thursday at the Waterfront Hotel, while official weigh-in takes place on Friday, 11AM at the SM Entertainment Center, open to the public.
