ALA-SUMMIT BOXING TOUR WOWS THOUSANDS IN BACOLOD PhilBoxing.com Wed, 29 Sep 2010 Bacolod City, Philippines- A crowd numbering in thousands trooped to the Brarangay Pahanocoy Gymnasium in Bacolod City to witness the action-packed ALA-SUMMIT BOXING TOUR held last September 25, 2010. It was the fourth time the ALA Promotions and Summit Natural Drinking Water?s partnership visited the 'City of Smiles' to pump adrenaline into the Negrenses' systems through the sport of boxing since they partnered last 2008. There was never a dull moment during the evening since all fighters came to give their all that night. Headlining the fight card was come back kid Rollen del Castillo vs banger Jerson Mancio. Both fighters hit with bad intent at the start of the 1st round giving and taking shots from each other getting the crowds attention and in anticipation of the next round. It would have been a great fight if not for the unfortunate clashes of heads that cut both fighters and prompted the referee to end the bout with a majority draw. The highlight of the evening was the match between Bacolod City native Rey Melligen (younger brother of TOP Rank fighter Mark Jason Melligen) versus Bon Bon Gino of Butuan City in a four round lightweight match-up. It was all out boxing and brawling from the opening bell with hard punches thrown and landed with both fighters getting tagged during the exchanges. Melligen though came on top over his opponent during those moments but he was also countered by a solid overhand from Gino that backed him up a bit The third round came and during the heated exchanges, Melligen let go of an upper cut to Gino?s body sending the Butuan Native to the canvass and the crowd in euphoric frenzy. Gino got up but the youngest of the Melligen brood finished him off with a series of body punches that forced him to crouch forcing the referee to stop the contest. It was a perfect debut for Melligen winning in style in front of a supportive home crowd behind him. Other results were Don Don Sultan of Zamboanga won over Don Don Llagas of Butuan City, Zaldy Aroa of Bantayan Island, Cebu flooring JunJun Ygot of Butuan twice en route to a 6 round unanimous decision win, Charlie Sabijon of Siaton, Negros Oriental over Jicky Jacko of Boljoon, Cebu, Melvin Gumban of Bacolod TKO(3) over Joseph Demos of Dumaguete City and Jocel Gestopa Consolacion, Cebu UD(4) wins over Romeo Orpanel of Siaton, Negros Oriental.
