TIM COLEMAN STAKES IBF USBA LIGHT WELTER CROWN AGAINST PATRICK LOPEZ
By Jonathan Davis PhilBoxing.com Wed, 22 Sep 2010
The battle lines have been drawn between IBF USBA Champion Tim "The Pit Bull" Coleman and Challenger, Patrict "El Elegante" Lopez, as both warriors clash on top of the ring at the Chumash Indian Casino in Santa Ynez, California, on Friday, October 1, 2010.
The 26 year old Champion Tim Coleman, 17-1-1, 4KOs, from Baltimore, Maryland, has a daunting task in his first defense of the IBF USBA title he won over Mike Arnaoutis last December 3, 2009 on a split decision in New York's Manhattan Center Grand Ballroom. He faces a fearsome contender who has scored 12KOs in 22 fights with only 2 losses, and determined to wrest his title. Known as "El Elegante", the challenger, Patrick Lopez, 32 years old, from New Hampshire, USA, by way of Cojedes, Venezuela, is on a 4-fight winning skein, and fresh from a 3rd round knockout victory of previously unbeaten Prenice Brewer last August 8, 2010 at the UIC Pavillon in Chicago, Illinois. Going into the fight with "El Elegante" for the then vacant IBF USBA tiara, the former bemedalled Golden Gloves Amateur Boxing Champion, Prenice Brewer, had racked up an impressive 15-0-1, 6KOs ring record since turning professional, and was a hot prospect until Patrick Lopez dealt him a brutal stoppage loss.
The 12 rounds Championship fight is the main event of a Gary Shaw Boxing Promotions, and is sanctioned by both the IBF USBA and by the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC).
