Gorres, Amonsot starts sparring at Wildcard Gym Meets 3 world champions
By Dong Secuya PhilBoxing.com Thu, 05 Jan 2006
Z "The Dream' Gorres and Czar Amonsot have started sparring today at the famed Wildcard Gym of U.S. trainer Freddie Roach in Los Angeles in preparation for their upcomcomig fights at Orleans Casino in Las Vegas on Feb. 3 against Mexican Samuel Lopez and American Arturo Quintero, respectively.
The OPBF number 1 contender Z Gorres, sparred first against Jorge Diaz scheduled for 4 rounds but Diaz quit after 2 rounds due to hand injury. It was a good sparring while it lasted. Next to spar with Gorres was a 17-year-old U.S. national amateur boxing champion who gave Gorres a good workout for 4 rounds. Gorres appeared sluggish in his first sparring session since he hit the U.S. soil last week.
Next to spar was WBO Asia-Pacific superfeather champ Czar Amonsot who took on Eder Rivas. Amonsot was quite impressive. It was a give-and-take no holds barred sparring, with Amonsot having the edge in the exchanges. Amonsot was warned however by the corner of Rivas for constantly hitting below the belt by which Amonsot had apologized.
Z Gorres and Czar Amonsot poses with Brian Viloria.
The duo with Israel Vasqez.
And with Filipino firebrand Manny Pacquiao.
While in the gym, the duo had the privileged to rub elbows with 3 world champions in compatriots Manny Pacquiao and WBC lightfly champ Brian Viloria and with Mexican IBF and WBC superbantam champ Israel Vasquez.
