In a fight that lacked action, Robert Guerrero was able to defeat Joel Casamaoy by a unanimous ten-round decision. For the most part, Guerrero was able to use his heavy hands to keep Casamayor at bey. In the second round, after referee Jay Nady deducted a point from Casamayor for holding, Guerrero landed a left hand that stunned Casamayor, who eventually went down on his own. However, Casamayor was able to fight his defensive fight and prevent Guerrero from landing any combinations from the second round on. In the last round, the green Guerrero tried to finish off Casamayor but instead was on a receiving end of a strong counter jab that he did not see and that put him on the canvas. Knowing he was ahead in the fight, Guererro boxed to the end of the round and won a clear unanimous decision. Scores were 98-89, 98-89, 97-90 all for Guerrero.
