LENNY ZAPPAVIGA KO?S INDONESIAN BILLY SUMBA IN TWO ROUNDS

IBO lightweight champion Lenny Zappavigna took less that two rounds to knockout Indonesia?s Billy Sumba in a scheduled ten round bout in Australia.
The undefeated Zappavigna caught Sumba with a couple of solid combinations in the opening round and then put him away in round two when referee Charlie Lucas counted the Indon fighter out at 0:23 seconds of the second round.
Zappavigna told IBF boxing official Ray Wheatley that he would defend his IBO title in the United States and disclosed that his manager Gary Shaw would arrange the title defense.
Zappavigna won the vacant IBO title with a twelve round unanimous decision over tough Fernando Angulo who came in three pounds over the limit.
Zappavigna also won the IBF Pan Pacific light welterweight title on December 5, 2008 beating fellow Australian Tommy Browne, a former world lightweight title challenger.
With the win the 22 year old Zappavigna stretched his unbeaten streak to 24-0 with 16 knockouts while the 26 year old Sumba dropped to 18-2-1 with 4 knockouts.
Sumba was coming off am eighth round unanimous decision over Rocky Alap Alap on June 19, 2010 after losing by a 4th round TKO to Ramadhan Weriu on November 28, 2009.
Weriu himself suffered a 5th round knockout at the hands of hard-hitting Filipino southpaw Jimrex Jaca on January 23 this year.
