Gorres KOs Pornobnum in the 4th round; Domingo keeps RP bantam title

PhilBoxing.com

Z "The Dream" Gorres knocked out cold Thai visitor Wisanu Pornobnum at 1 minute 36 seconds mark of the 4th round in the main event of "Fight for Fame" at the Mandaue Sports Complex in Mandaue City, Cebu, late last night. Gorres had earlier sent the Thai to the canvas in the opening minutes of the 4th round with a vicious uppercut before the stoppage that kept Pornubnum sprawled to the canvas for some time.

Pornobrum was totally outclassed by the quick-handed and stylish Gorres in the earlier rounds as the Thai was baffled no end by Gorres' shiftiness and sharp, quick punches. With the win, the Mandaue-native Gorres has improved his record to 21 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw with 12 KOs.

The Thai was down on the canvas for good.

Antonio Aldeguer, Gorres' manager, said after the fight that Z is now ready to fight for the OPBF title most likely against Waengpetch Chuwatana of Thailand. But before taking on the Thai, Aldeguer said Gorres will first fight in the U.S. in January in a card that will be promoted by Guilty Boxing.

Michael Domingo connecs with a right against Rolly Lunas in this bit of action

In the main undercard, Michael Domingo of SSG stable retained his RP bantamweight title by defeating Rolly Lunas (Wakee Salud Stable) via UD with scores of 115-114, 116-114 and 115-113.

Rollen del Castillo squares off with Alex Aroy

The evening's most exciting fight belongs to ALA's Rollen del Castillo against formerly undefeated Wakee Salud Stable's Alex Aroy. The two boxers put the crowd at the edge of their seats as either fighter it seems could deliver a knockout blow against each other that could immediately end the fight. In the end Rollen got the judges nod with scores of 97-92, 96-93 and 96-94.

Other results:

Roy Doliguez was being counted by the referee in the 2nd round

ALA Gym's Robert Allanic prevailed over Elorde Stable's Roy Doliguez in 10 closely contested rounds. The veteran Doliguez sent Allanic to the canvas in the first round. But Allanic returned the compliment in the 2nd round as it was Doliguez who was down on his pants this time. It was give and take afterwards for both fighters until the 10th round but in the end it was Allanic who got the nod of the judges with scores of 95-92, 94-94 and 94-93 for a majority decision win for Allanic.

The returning Rocky Fuentes of ALA stable won by UD over Bert Gawat in 10 uneventful rounds.

Winnie Bartiquil (Cagayan de Oro) won by split decision over Jojo Intor (ALA).

M. Melindo won by UD over J. Librez in 4 rounds.

A. Yap (Cagayan de Oro) won by UD over A. Marapao (Bislig) in 4 rounds.
