Neil Ellis manager of Half-Pinoy firebrand Heath Ellis is coming to the Philippines

Half-Pinoy Australian boxing sensation Heath “The Heat” Ellis – father/manager Neil Ellis arrives in the Philippines today on a fact finding mission in regards to the Philippines boxing scene. Neil Ellis is no stranger to the Philippines and is looking forward to being at ringside to witness a boxing extravaganza when Brian Viloria and Donnie Nietes defend their world titles in Pasay City, Ellis will be sitting ringside as a guest of Peter Maniatis, who will also be ringside.
Heath Ellis’ co manager Elio Doria will remain on local soil in Australia taking care of business. Neil Ellis, brother of Lester Ellis who is the former IBF super-featherweight and three-division IBO world champion in the 80’s and 90’s, so it is not suprising that Neil knows the boxing game very well.
His son Heath is the current IBF Pan Pacific and interim WBC Asian Boxing Council welterweight champion with a record of (12-1-1, 6 KO’s). Heath Ellis will be fighting former Nigerian, All-African, and Commonwealth welterweight champion Fatai Onikeke on April 9th.
Neil spoke exclusively to PhilBoxing hours before he was scheduled to leave Melbourne for Manila.
“The Philippines is a very strong and talented boxing nation with several world champions and highly rated contenders. They continue to produce quality fighters and it is no surprise that the best fighter in the world is a Filipino.”
Neil went on to say that himself, co-manager Elio Doria and promoter Peter Maniatis are looking at the possibility of a Heath Ellis fight in the Philippines.
“They have the hearts of lions and there are so many great talents around, with my son being half-Pinoy he has inherited the fighting skills of my Ellis blood mixed with the Filipino blood... It’s a great mix really (chuckles out aloud)”
Neil Ellis arrives on the 21st of January with his Pinoy wife Melody and will stay for around two weeks. Promoter/TV Anchorman Peter Maniatis who hosts his own boxing show in Australia is currently in the Philippines, said he is glad to have invited Neil to join him in such a great country.
