One of the best and most respected judges that has ever lived in the world of boxing, Tom Kaczmarek, has decided to retire as a judge, but has accepted the appointment by the WBC as the Chairman of the Ring Officials Review Committee.

Tom has been married to Agnes Donovan for 55 years, couple that has three children, who are Nancy Budris, Tom Jr. and Mary Jean Coviello. They both have 8 grandchildren.

In the life of Tom, he has been a Second Lt. Armor in the US Army; a Mayor of Clark, N. J.; Councilmen in the same county; Union County Freeholder; Commissioner on the New Jersey Violent Crimes Compensation Board, in all positions where he left an indelible mark of reform, honesty and service to the people.

He has been 62 years of involvement in boxing in different capacities especially as a professional boxing judge and as a moderator of training seminars for judges, including being the WBC Chairman of the Ring Officials Committee in the year of 1989.
He has been a judge in over 2,000 professional bouts including 110 world championships and 86 regional championship fights in the 5 continents, where he has been during his judging career and participated in some outstanding boxing title matches like Lennox Lewis vs. Vitali Klitschko; Evander Holyfield vs. George Foreman; Roberto Duran vs. Iran Barkley; Ray Leonard vs. Tommy Hearns II; Jeff Fenech vs. Azumah Nelson II; Shane Mosley vs. Vernon Forrest; Winky Right vs. Shane Mosley; Oscar de la Hoya vs. Floyd Mayweather; Felix Trinidad vs. Roy Jones; Israel Vazquez vs. Rafael Marquez III, plus many other great title bouts, most of them in the WBC.

One of the fondest moments of Tom in his life was in 1970, as a Mayor when he had the city sponsor and pay for a fully equipped boxing gym, including a ring, which no other municipality in New Jersey has done.

Tom Kaczmarek is one of the most liked and respected ring officials in the world and it is a moment of sadness to see his retirement after 75 years, but being him an extraordinary and excellent ring official, he has been appointed as of January 1 2010, as the Chairman of the WBC Ring Officials Review Committee, and will continue being a very distinguished member of the World Boxing Council.
