Mayweather, Jr. wakes up with a new demand each day after every nightmare, says Arum By Granville Ampong PhilBoxing.com Thu, 24 Dec 2009 EXCLUSIVE: LAS VEGAS, Nevada, December 23, 2009 - Just as Pound-for-Pound King Manny Pacquiao is "ready to ring off" Floyd Mayweather, Jr.'s head to the canvas as stated in the pre-fight analysis by different columnists, Mayweather, Jr. through his adviser and manager, Leonard Ellerbe, demands that drug tests, both blood and urine, will have to be done INSIDE 30 days before the scheduled fight, which includes random blood and urine samplings, which means specimens of the same kind will also be collected at short notice anytime before the fight night. But, Pacquiao does not want blood drawn inside 30 days of the fight but said he would give blood before the press conference to promote the bout and immediately after the fight between the two, according to inside reports of Team Pacquiao. In an exclusive telephone interview today by this writer, Top Rank Godfather Bob Arum says, "Floyd Mayweather, Jr. must have conceived tremendous fear of getting knockout by Manny Pacquiao." "Yeah, he is scared to death," says Arum who wants to see Mayweather-Pacquiao fight happening in his lifetime. Arum, 78, "called off" the talk between the camps of Mayweather and Pacquiao amid in what seems to be an uncompromising and "endless" demand of the Mayweather camp relative to blood testing as said. "And I bet you even if his demands are met, he will have to spotlight, again and again, another set of excuses. It's pathetic his demands are endless. He wakes up with a new demand each day after every nightmare." Arum adds. Meanwhile, Ellerbe, in an exclusive telephone interview today, says his fighter "remains firm of his demand specific of blood and urine tests scheduling and random ones as well". He further says, "The consensus of our camp is that we "will not settle for anything less than what our fighter (Floyd Mayweather, Jr.) wants done". Mayweather versus Pacquiao, as scheduled on March 13, 2010 which location has to be agreed upon by both parties, is on moratorium until an official resumption of negotiation is called on for by both parties.
