Pacquiao Launches Trademark “MP Fist” Logo and “Manny Pacquiao”

LAS VEGAS—Boxing’s number one pound-for-pound fighter Manny Pacquiao officially launched his signature “MP fist” logo and his name, days before his fight with Miguel Angel Cotto Wednesday here.
In simple rites right after the final press conference of “Firepower” at the MGM Grand Arena, Pacquiao wore a shirt that bore his initials “MP” which coincidentally formed the shape of a fist.
“This “MP” logo comes from the actual mold of my right fist. It bears my initials “M” and “P” and I am happy that we finally launched this signature item for various products that we will produce soon,” said Pacquiao. The “MP Logo” also bears the red, blue and yellow colors of the Philippine flag and the three stars that represent the three major inlands of the Philippines.
For the Cotto fight, Pacquiao and his merchandising company will start out selling shirts and hooded sweaters, among other products at the fight venue and in the internet to cater to a huge clamor from fans and supporters for products which includes posters, gloves, hats and many collectable items.
The “MP” Fist Logo and “Manny Pacquiao” are registered trademarks protected by international and US trademark laws. This protects Pacquiao from the various bootleg items that have proliferated cyberspace and other unauthorized outlets. Unlawful use of the name, likeness and image of Manny Pacquiao carry penalties.
The same fists that have previously knocked out 37 opponents in his 54 fights are the same fists that he envisions to use in rebuilding lives and helping the needy. Pacquiao promised to donate proceeds from all MP merchandise items to the Manny Pacquiao Foundation which he has also established.
