MELLIGEN VS LUQUE NOW SET IN TIJUANA, MEXICO
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Wed, 17 Jun 2009

ALA Boy Mark Jason Melligen's fight with veteran Fabian "El Lobo" Luque, originally set for Juarez on June 20, will now get a new venue in Tijuana, Mexico, according to Las Vegas-based Tony Martin, who trains the Filipino fighter.
Latest report, however, indicate that this card will now take place on the same date in Ensenada, roughly 100 miles south of San Diego, California.
Nevertheless, Martin indicated that Team Melligen will be leaving Las Vegas on Thursday after several weeks of serious training at the world's gambling capital.
"We will be leaving for Mexico on Thursday," informed Martin, adding that ALA chief trainer Edito Villamor is set to arrive in Vegas today to be in Melligen's corner.
"For this fight, Melligen has trained really hard with me for the last couple of months. We have had really good and hard sparring with Marcos Maidana, which in turn has been a great experience for him, and at the same time he has grown in confidence within him self," added Martin, who lives in Vegas with Filipina wife Yvonne and their children.
Martin assured that "we are going to Mexico, with only one thought in our minds -- TO WIN and win well."
The Bacolod City-raised Melligen (14-1, 10 KO's), who recently inked a deal with Top Rank, has continued to impress boxing fans in his American campaign, racking up thus far two consecutive victories against Gerardo Prieto and Ramon Montano in Colorado and Las Vegas, respectively.
