ABA PRESENTS WBO "3 THE HARD WAY" DEC. 21 PhilBoxing.com Mon, 01 Dec 2008 Digos city will be the site of world class WBO championship boxing on Sunday Dec. 21st when fists fly as American Boxing Academy, along with the Honorable Mayor of Digos City Arsenio"Boy" Latasa, bring the World Boxing Organization and an International class of world rated fighters to town for an evening of three Championship fights. The event scheduled to be televised all over Asia on cable TV and around the World via internet will feature #7 WBO world rated Jr middleweight Charles Whittaker fighting for the WBO Asia Pacific Jr Middleweight belt against tough Indonesion opponent Tia Koswara. Whitaker, a Cayman born American resident has made Digos City his adopted home and returns to Digos after winning a fight there last month on an earlier ABA promotion. The second fight in the championship tripleheader pits #12 WBO world ranked Filipino secret sensation Ramie Laput against Indonesion Challenger Yulio Moro. Laput 35-3 19 Kos who is the current WBO Asia Pacific Jr featherweight Champ. Laput is the former RP superflyweight champion who has resurrected his boxing career by winning the WBO Asia Pacific belt under his American manager Ken Smith. Smith the owner of American Boxing Academy brought in American trainer "Storman" Norman Wilson who has worked Laput into a world challenger in just one year together. Should Laput win this 2nd WBO title he would be in line for a WBO world championship title fight in 2009. The 3rd fight of the WBO triplheader features Fernando TaTa Lumacad and Indonesion KO specialist Panca Silaban. Lumacad and Silaban will fight 12 rounds for the vacant WBO Oriental Interim Flyweight championship belt.. Lumacad 17-1-2 8Kos takes on the hard slugging Indonesion in Lumacads hometown of Digos City hoping to capture the belt that he let slipaway last month in Cebu in a disappointing draw.. The WBO championship Tripleheader dubbed "3 The Hard Way" promoted by American Boxing Academy and Co-Sponsored by Digos city Mayor Arsenio"Boy"Latasa and ABA owner Ken Smith, will be the first championship boxing hosted in this city by a world organization. WBO Asia Pacific President Leon Pononcilo and his WBO officials team will arrive in Digos City Dec 19-22 to officiate and supervise the 3 WBO championship fights. |
