PANCHITO ARCE WINS IN TOLUCA
By Jonathan Davis PhilBoxing.com Sun, 30 Nov 2008
Toluca, MX -- Flambouyant Francisco "Panchito" Arce of Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico tonight, finally came out of the shadows of his more famous brother, Jorge "Travieso" Arce when he won the vacant IBF Latino Jr. Bantamweight Title by an impressive second round demolition of Panamanian William de Souza at the Salon Rojo del Club Deportivo in here.
Veteran Referee Rafael Ramos of San Antonio, Texas halted the carnage after the Panamanian speedster crumpled to the canvas after one minute and 26 seconds of the second round following a crushing left hook to the body.
The victory, which is Panchito Arce`s 28th win against 4 losses and 2 draws, puts him into an eliminator bout against Simphiwe Nongqayi of South Africa, for the right to duel with the reigning IBF World Jr. Bantamweight Champion, Vic Darchinyan of Australia, who has recently also annexed the WBC Super Flyweight Crown of Mexican Cristian Mijares. The loss further dented William de Souza`s record to 15-12-1 The championship fight was a joint promotion of Emir Montalvo and the fast rising ZANFER Promotions of Mexican Boxing Impressario, Fernando Beltran. In the main supporting bout, former WBC Light Flyweight Champion Eric Ortiz of Mexico continued his comeback trail with another abbreviated win over compatriot Juan Alfonso Keb of Yukatan, Mexico. A barrage of solid combinations to the body by Eric Ortiz midway in the 4th round, after fully dominating the first 3 rounds, felled the hapless Keb, with the Referee, not bothering anymore to count.
The International Boxing Federation, under the power management of Marian Muhammad and Championship Chairman, Lindsey Tucker, continues to have a strong presence in Mexico`s rich boxing landscape due largely to the indefatigable efforts of Phoenix, Arizona-based IBF Director and Fight Supervisor, Aaron Kizer.
