DOMINGO?S LONG JOURNEY TO FAME WITHIN SIGHT

PhilBoxing.com

Michael ?Bruce Lee? Domingo (37(16KO)-14-2), the shy and chinky-eyed but deadly WBO Oriental Bantamweight Champion got what he wished for, another fight in America.

His mettle and his dream will be tested no doubt on November 21, 2008 where he will fight a tough, dangerous and promising star of Golden Boy Promotions, American Nestor Rocha (20(7KO)-1-0) at Morongo Casino Resort & Spa, Cabazon,.

Not until Domingo joined the famous ALA gym in Cebu four years ago at the age of 25 that he was given the opportunity to excel and fight world class boxers. Now, this fight will course his future in boxing, it will make or break him. ?I have no doubt that he is going to win. His self discipline, focus and training are impressive,? his trainer Edito Villamor said.

This is Domingo?s second fight in America. He is part of the Philippine boxers who won against Mexican fighters last August 11, 2007 at Arco Arena, Sacramento, California and garnered the coveted Oscar De la Hoya?s Boxing Cup. He may not be the stand out Philippine boxer who won over previously undefeated featherweight Miguel Roman (25-4-0) being a part of a 6-man Philippine team but this forthcoming fight against Rocha on November 21 will provide him the chance to be known also to American and Mexican boxing fans provided he put a mark on every fan?s mind on how impressive he wins.

This will be the fourth fight of Domingo for the year 2008 after disposing of three championship caliber boxers from Thailand and Indonesia. He demolished former WBO bantamweight champion Thai boxer Thepnimet Sor Chitpattana (18-4-0) in the second round of their scheduled 10-round bout on April 6. Then, he followed this up with another second round knockout of Indonesian boxer Rivo Renkung (27-7-5) on July 26. Just recently on September 14, he disposed of another Thai legendary boxer Ratanachai Sor Vorapin (73-11-0) paving the way to a dream of another fight in America.

Nestor Rocha who is being honed for world championship is 27 years of age, 5?7? and has a reach advantage over Domingo who is 29 years of age and only 5?3? tall. ?This will suite Domingo. He is quick, he can box and he is clever. He sparred with Cornelius Lock and former American Olympian Torrence Daniels who are very much bigger in weight and taller at 5?6? or 5?7? and I am confident that once Domingo can get inside, he can put pressure on Rocha and once he hit him, I am pretty sure that Rocha will go down,? Tony Martin said.

If there is a home game in basketball where the home team has the advantage, Nestor Rocha could have considered Morongo Casino, his home arena. This is where he won his last three fights near his birthplace in Montebello, California. He TKO?d Puerto Rican Javier Cintron in the second round on September 26, 2008 and Mexican Cesar Morales in the night round of their scheduled 10-round bout on November 2, 2007 and won by unanimous decision against another Mexican Jose Angel Beranza on June 27, 2008.

However, if Morongo Casino is Rocha?s home arena, Domingo is going to use Morongo venue as his stepping stone to fame and to the world championship he long desired. Domingo will use his hard hitting hand and power punches as vehicles to capture boxing fans and like the Philippine boxing patron, Antonio L. Aldeguer, convert them as believers to his boxing abilities and prowess. Morongo will then be the venue where another Filipino sensation in Michael Domingo is born.
