'BOOM BOOM' STARTS TRAINING WITH MAYWEATHER
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Thu, 30 Oct 2008

LOS ANGELES--The story that met us moments after touching down at the Tom Bradley terminal here was that popular Filipino fighter Rey 'Boom Boom" Bautista has already started working out with renowned trainer Roger Mayweather.
"We had a punchmitt session today. I thought I'd die with the workout. He would give me tremendous number of combinations, and it made me work real hard," Bautista told Philboxing.com in a text message from Las Vegas.
Bautista is currently in Sin City accompanied by trainer Edito Villamor and WBO Oriental bantam king Michael Domingo, with Las Vegas-based Tony Martin keeping an eye on the boys.
The Bohol-raised fighter is set to clash with Mexican Heriberto Ruiz on November 22 at the MGM Grand, underneath the Ricky Hatton-Paulie Malignaggi showdown.
After the workout, Bautista looked fine and in high spirit, after Mayweather told him that he already knew of Bautista even before he came to the gym.
ABS-CBN will air the fight live in the Philippines, November 23, Sunday.
The ALA fighters have decided to train at Mayweather's gym, knowing fully well that well-respected trainer Freddie Roach already has his hands full in training superstar Manny Pacquiao.
