MILENDO DEFENDS WBO TITLE AGAINST AFRICAN
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Wed, 08 Oct 2008

WBO Asia Pacific miniflyweight champion Milan Milendo will see action in front of his hometown crowd when he defends his title against Tanzanian Juma Fundi on October 30 at the Atrium of Limketkai Mall in Cagayan de Oro City.
The event will be presented by ALA Promotions in cooperation with Misamis Oriental Governor Oscar Moreno and Leolet Promotions.
"This event will showcase the Mindanao fighters," said sportsman Antonio L. Aldeguer in an interview at the ALA Gym on Monday.
Milendo, unbeaten in 16 fights, will be defending his title only for the second time against the 21-year-old Fundi, who tasted his first defeat in the hands of Richie Mepranum via decision for the WBO Oriental flyweight crown last June.
The unbeaten Milendo is coming off a unanimous decision win over Panama's Carlos Melo in July for the WBA Intercontinental light-flyweight crown.
The October 30 event will also showcase WBO Asia Pacific Youth lightweight champion Jason Pagara vying for the RP lightweight title against ex-RP champ Arnel Porras.
WBO Asia Pacific Youth light welter champ Eusebio Baluarte will take on Cris Alag in a grudge rubbermatch over ten rounds.
The rest of the card pits: Weng Haya versus Jaime Barcelona; Romeo Jako against William Jorge; Jerson Mancio versus Saldy Calamba; Marlon Tapalez against Roilo Golez; Mark Anthony Geraldo versus TBA; and Dondon Tumala versus TBA.
