GAB HAS SOME EXPLAINING TO DO

PhilBoxing.com

The Games and Amusements Board headed by Chairman Eric Buhain who we understand is on leave and Boxing Division chief Dr. Nasser Cruz have some explaining to do regarding obvious mismatches that were apparently approved by the GAB.

Based on the reports of boxrec.com, in one fight bantamweight Jayson Lyson who had a record of just 3 wins as against 5 defeats with one KO to his name fought undefeated Pungkluang Sor Singyu who had a record of 21-0 with 13 knockouts for the Thai's WBC Youth title. As expected Lyson was knocked out in the third round.

A report from Thailand said Lyson took some vicious shots to the body and was eventually stopped with a left hook to the body at 2:29 of round three.

In another bout in the Office of the Pak Hai District in Ayutthaya province, Joan de Guia who had only 6 wins as against 8 and 2 draws with 1 KO was matched against undefeated featherweight Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo who sported a record of 27-0 with 14 knockouts. The Thai is rated No. 6 in the world by the WBC. It was the same story with the Filipino getting knocked out in the third round.

De Guia was dropped twice, first by a right hook to the head and then, for the second time, by a crushing left to the body and was counted out at 2:25 of round three.

De Guia lost four of his last six fights including a first round TKO at the hands of Vinvin Rufino last July 26. Rufino himself had lost by a fifth round TKO to Chonlatarn in a WBC Asian Boxing Council title fight on August 31, 2007.

Here at home in Puerto Princesa, Palawan , Jury Noda who had lost his last five fights including a ten round TKO to Eusebio Baluarte last February 13 and had lost three fights in 2007 all by TKO, faced Arniel Tinampay in a Philippine title fight where he was, as expected, stopped in the sixth round.

Over in Australia, there?s been more of the same. In Newcastle, New South Wales Junmar Dulog lost a unanimous six round decision to light welterweight Solomon Egberime who has a record of 17-2 with 9 knockouts while Dulog?s record is 5-15-1 with 2 knockouts.
