JARO BATTERS 2 HEAVIER SPARRING PARTNERS
By Alex P. Vidal PhilBoxing.com Wed, 10 Sep 2008

Sonny Boy Jaro impressed a small corwd that gathered at the Jaro Boxing Gymn in Binangonan, Rizal yesterday (Sept. 8) when he battered two heavier sparring partners who took turns in measuring up his skills one after the other for 12 rounds.
Jaro, who will challenge Mexico's Edgar Sosa for the World Boxing Council (WBC) light flyweight title in Mexico City on September 27, first tackled Edgar Gabejan, who weighs 126 lbs. He then rumbled with Jun Erajam, who weights 118 lbs.
Despite their superior sizes, Gabejan and Erajam admitted to their manager Aljoe Jaro that they found Sonny Boy Jaro "too slippery" even as they noticed that the 26-year-old reigning Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) light flyweight champion punched like a featherweight.
After the sparring session, Jaro tipped the scale at 113 lbs, five pounds heavier than the required weight in the 12-round world championship duel to be held at the Arena Mexico.
"We haven't even controlled his food yet. He is still eating a regular diet," reported Aljoe Jaro, who will accompany the challenger.
Aljoe Jaro said the boxer maintains a meal of two boiled eggs, a cup of milk and one cup of beef noodles for breakfast in the morning after running in Antipolo mountains and continues to eat his lunch at 10 o'clock in the morning.
When there is no sparring, the boxer eats bulalo and tortang ampalaya regularly and banana in the afternoon.
All in all, the manager added, Sonny Boy Jaro has sparred for a total of 136 rounds.
"Tamang tama sa target ko bago umalis kami sa Sept. 14 ay hindi kami bababa ng 170 rounds. Pagdating namin sa Mexico kasi wala na kaming sparring puro punch mitts na lang," Aljoe Jaro.
