CONCEPCION BACK IN ACTION ON SEPT. 27 IN SAN DIEGO

PhilBoxing.com

LAS VEGAS, Nevada ? Satisfied with his performance in knocking out Adam Carrera in the 3rd round at the MGM Grand Arena on July 26, handlers of North American Boxing Federation (NABF) super bantamweight champion Bernabe ?Kamaong Llave? Concepcion want him to be back in action on September 27 in San Diego, California.

This was revealed by Michael Koncz, who co-manages the youngster from Virac, Catanduanes along with World Boxing Council (WBC) lightweight champion Manny Pacquiao and Aljoe Jaro of Binangonan, Rizal.

Koncz said they will give Concepcion only a week to take a rest after bombing out Carrera before going back to the gym. He said ?we are very happy with what we saw as Concepcion improved dramatically.?

Giving Concepcion another fight ?is our gift to him because we are proud of him,? Koncz pointed out. ?We appreciate the hard work he is putting in and he deserves the kind of treatment he is getting from us.?

Koncz also clarified that while they are giving Concepcion the much-needed break and support, ?we are not trying to make another Manny Pacquiao here. There is no other like Manny Pacquiao.?

Pacquiao, Koncz stressed, ?is a great inspiration to Concepcion as he spends a lot of time for Concepcion both as a boxer and human being.?

The management team, added Koncz, plans to pit Concepcion against a ?durable? opponent on September 27 before they will negotiate for their 20-year-old war to shoot for the world championship in the undercard of Pacquiao?s next fight either in November 15 or in December.

?We still got to work for a lot of things for Concepcion before giving him a title shot,? Koncz said. ?We want him to improve the utilization of his jabs?single and double. He needs to put up more aggressiveness. There should be an abundance of the volume of his punches.?

Meanwhile, Concepcion?s best friend and chief ally former WBC international bantamweight champion Jovy Chan-Halog said there is no problem if Concepcion will fight again on September 27. ?Lagi naman siyang handa may laban man o wala. Confident ako na he will live up to the expectations of his handlers and his growing number of funs,? Halog said.
