BREAKING NEWS: 'BOOM BOOM' TO FACE MARQUEZ; NIETES TO DEFEND AGAINST CASTRO
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Fri, 11 Jul 2008
Rey 'Boom Boom' Bautista will return to the spotlight when he co-headlines the huge August 30 card at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel against Mexico's Eden "Anestecista" Marquez.
"I will fight Eden Marquez on August 30," confirmed Bautista in an interview yesterday at the famed ALA Gym.
Bautista will be defending his WBO Intercontinental superbantam belt against the Sonora, Mexico-based Marquez, who holds a record of 16 wins, 3 losses, 3 draws with 12 KO's.
The co-main event will showcase WBO minimumweight champion Donnie Nietes defending his title for the first time against Nicaraguan Eddy Castro.
The news of Bautista and Nietes fighting in one card was also confirmed today in a press release sent to the media by the ALA Promotions, which is credited for bringing the biggest boxing events in Cebu such as the Z Gorres-Vic Darchinyan battle, as well as the Z Gorres-Fernando Montiel WBO scrap.
ALA Promotions is also bringing to the fans the July 26 WBA superflyweight battle between AJ Banal and Rafael Concepcion.
