TERDSAK VS CANOY HEATING UP! By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Sat, 05 Jul 2008 The highly-anticipated showdown between undefeated Zamboangueno Eric 'Dilliger' Canoy and Thai toughie Terdsak Jandaeng is shaping up to be a high-octane warfare with the winner likely to get a world title crack next. Canoy, who once beat Olympic gold medallist Somluck Kamsing, is currently training at the famed ALA Gym and has been getting quality sparring against chief sparmate Gil Melligen, as well as ex-WBC champ Malcolm Tunacao and the versatile Flash Intor. "He's been improving tremendously. We are now seeing the Eric Canoy of old, the ferocious one," said trainer Berto Entice, who is working with trainer Danny Bactol in whipping Canoy into his best shape ever. Bactol says he will start incorporating the 'fartlek' and interval training in Canoy's morning runs shortly, to give the fighter the much-needed explosiveness inside the ring. Meanwhile, over at Chiang Mai, Thailand, Terdsak Jandaeng has been working out daily under full supervision of Filipino trainer Jojo Palacios. "Training is good, he has complete set of sparmates like the twin brother Decha and Decho Bankluaygym," said Palacios in a long-distance interview. Other fighters working out with Jandaeng are Sod Looknokyantoy and Somchai Nakbalee who is touted for his "good amateur background and size." "I want Terdsak to keep the pressure and throw a lot of punches. He has the power, he just needs more work rate," added Palacios, who will be working Terdsak's corner. Team Jandaeng is slated to arrive in Zamboanga City on July 23. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Salven L. Lagumbay. |
