“Night of Champions” set to highlight WBO’s 38th Convention

PhilBoxing.com

Bogota, Colombia – The World Boxing Organization (WBO), in partnership with the Bogota Chamber of Commerce, announces its headline event, “Night of Champions,” as part of the 38th Annual WBO Convention, taking place October 27–31, 2025, at the Hilton Corferias Hotel and the Ágora Convention Center in Bogota.

“Night of Champions” will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at the Ágora Convention Center, promising an electrifying evening of world-class boxing action, produced by Best PR Boxing Promotions.
The card will feature a main event showdown between Colombia’s own Laura Wollenmann (11-1, 3 KOs), WBO International Flyweight Champion (112 lbs) and current #3 in the world rankings, against former unified world champion Gabriela Celeste Alaniz (17-2, 7 KOs) of Argentina, for the WBO Interim World Flyweight title.

In the co-main event, undefeated Colombian Esteban Garzón (11-0, 5 KOs), from Bogota, will face highly regarded Dominican prospect Miguel Queliz (11-1-1, 5 KOs), from Santo Domingo, for the vacant WBO Latino lightweight title (135 pounds) in a 10-round bout.

In another highlight, former world title challenger Andres Campos (17-3-1, 6 KOs) of Chile will take on Mexico’s Brandon Rodriguez (8-1, 3 KOs) for the vacant WBO Latino title at 115 lbs.

“We have decided to return to Colombia with the firm purpose of revitalizing the Central and South American region, with Bogota as the epicenter of this effort,” said WBO President Gustavo Olivieri, Esq. “This destination has emerged as the new hub for international business, providing us with an ideal platform to strengthen our ties, foster new opportunities, and further our mission across the region. Through our partnership with the Bogota Chamber of Commerce, we are confident that this event will represent a true rebirth of world boxing—not only in Colombia but throughout Latin America.”
Other highlights include a thrilling clash of undefeated boxers as Puerto Rico’s Elise Soto (8-0, 7 KOs), managed by WBO Featherweight Champion Amanda Serrano, squares off against Colombia’s explosive Flor Rodriguez (9-0, 6 KOs) for the vacant WBO NABO Featherweight title (130 lbs.) over eight rounds.

Also on the card, Puerto Rico’s Yariel Diaz Figueroa (1-0, 1 KO), guided by newly inducted International Boxing Hall of Famer Ivan Calderón, will take on Mexico’s Pedro Ramses Valadez (3-0, 3 KOs). Meanwhile, Colombia’s Brayan Orozco (2-0, 1 KO) will battle Venezuela’s Samuel Gutierrez (4-0, 1 KO), both at 126 lbs. These bouts are scheduled for four rounds.

“Night of Champions” will feature a total of eight fights and will be streamed live on the official WBO YouTube channel, starting at 7:00 p.m. (GMT-5).

The WBO Convention will be held from October 27–31, 2025, at the Hilton Corferias Hotel and Ágora Convention Center in Bogota, with the attendance of WBO champions such as Amanda Serrano (Featherweight Champion, 126 lbs.), Katie Taylor (undisputed Lightweight Champion, 135 lbs.), Oleksandr Usyk (undisputed Heavyweight Champion), and Dmitry Bivol (undisputed Light Heavyweight Champion). Legends, former champions, top prospects, promoters, managers, and other key figures will also participate in activities focused on global boxing growth, athlete well-being, technological innovation, and fan engagement.

The convention will be dedicated to former three-division WBO World Champion Vasiliy Lomachenko, who will be present to meet with fans. Terence “Bud” Crawford, the new undisputed Super Middleweight Champion, will also be in attendance.

This event is historic, marking the first-ever professional boxing governing body convention open to the public. Business leaders, sponsors, and fans will all have the opportunity to attend, promoting transparency and strengthening sports tourism in the region.
