BOXER JEAN PASCAL INDUCTED INTO THE BOXING CANADA HALL OF FAME

PhilBoxing.com

Quebec City, May 30, 2025 – Jean Pascal, one of the greatest boxers in Canadian history, is officially entering the Boxing Canada Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will take place this Saturday, May 30th, as part of the Quebec Amateur Boxing Open at Laval University's PEPS in Quebec City.

Born in Haiti and having moved to Quebec at a very young age, Jean Pascal climbed the boxing ranks with determination, becoming an iconic figure in the sport in Canada. He began boxing as a teenager at the Champion boxing club in Saint-Michel, Montreal, under the guidance of coach Sylvain Gagnon. He was the first to benefit from a sports-study program in boxing. A seven-time Canadian amateur champion, he was named Canada's amateur boxer of the year on three occasions (2001, 2002, 2003). He won the gold medal at the 2001 Francophonie Games, the 2002 Commonwealth Games, and a bronze medal at the 2003 Pan American Games. In 2004, he represented Canada at the Athens Olympic Games. He also achieved a fifth-place finish at the 2001 World Championships in Ireland. He concluded his amateur career with an impressive record of 103 wins in 121 fights. His exceptional amateur journey laid the groundwork for what would become a remarkable professional career.

"Being inducted while I'm still active in the ring, it's a great source of pride," said Jean Pascal. "I feel honored to receive this recognition in front of the amateur boxing family here in Quebec, where it all began for me. It gives me even more motivation to continue what I love and become world champion again."

Turning professional in 2005, Pascal (37-7-1, 21 KOs) became the WBC Light Heavyweight World Champion in 2009 against Adrian Diaconu. He then successfully defended his title against Chad Dawson before facing some of the biggest names in world boxing, including Bernard Hopkins, Sergey Kovalev, Dmitry Bivol, and Badou Jack. He remains active and currently holds the 2024 NABO Cruiserweight title. He also participated in what is considered the most important boxing match held in Quebec in the last 25 years against Lucian Bute, which he won.

Jean Pascal is recognized for his exceptional longevity, fighting spirit, and popularity with the Quebec and Canadian public. Throughout his professional career, Jean Pascal has won several prestigious belts: the WBC Light Heavyweight belt, the WBA belt, the IBO belt, the NABF belt, the WBO Intercontinental belt, the NABO belt, and The Ring Magazine belt. He also holds the WBC Silver and WBC Diamond belts, testifying to his exceptional journey among the world's elite.

This athlete possesses extraordinary mental strength and willpower. He believes in his abilities more than anyone. Work, perseverance, and discipline are his watchwords, both in sports and in life. His unwavering confidence in his abilities has always guided him to the top.

Jean Pascal is still active on the international scene. In fact, he will step back into the ring on June 28th at Place Bell in Laval for an interim WBC World Championship fight in the cruiserweight division against Poland's Michal Cieslak.
