Filipino trainer scores big win
By Lito delos Reyes PhilBoxing.com Fri, 25 Apr 2025

CHINESE Longyi Hu scored a shocking 3rd round knockout against former IBO World flyweight champion Dave “Dobermann” Apolinario of Sarangani last April 22 at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
The 25-year-old Hu, who now has a 9-2-2 record with five knockouts, was trained by ex-Filipino boxer Ricky Seniego of Compostela, Davao de Oro.
Seniego, who arrived in Shenzhen, China six months ago, trained Hu before the fight. But Seniego stayed behind in China since he does not have a visa for Japan.
“I can't get a visa from China to Japan,” said Seniego in a Facebook interview.
Seniego was hired to train Chinese boxers by Robin Wang of the Shenzhen Jianzhi Pro Combat Academy.
When he was a pro boxer as a minimumweight, Seniego had three wins, nine loses and five draws with two knockouts.
In his last fight, Seniego lost by unanimous decision to Young Gil Bae of South Korea on February 25, 2016 at the Sports Authority of Thailand in Bangkok.
Seniego had last settled a majority draw with Mario Jun de Asis on July 10, 2004 in Taguig City.
He last tasted a victory against Manny Arsenal by a split decision on May 25, 2003 also in Taguig.
