IIEE GenX 3-peat, SAEP Millennial Champ in PTC WED Basketball

The Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines (IIEE) trounced Institute of Electronic Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP) in the Generation X or 40 years old and above basketball division of the 3rd D’ Engineers Cup of the Philippine Technological Council’s World Engineering Day (PTC-WED) for their 3-year straight championship. IIEE was led by the most Valuable player (MVP) of IIEE Eduard Bautista who was also named as one of the defensive 5. Others in the genX mythical teams were Amor Olimberio and Rogelito Custodio of IIEE, Mark Anthony Melendres and Albert Agu of IECEP and Noel Gamao of Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME). Joining Bautista in the defensive five were Arvin Asejo of IIEE, Angelo Silva and Arbheen Satrapam of IECEP and Adrian Vargas of PSME.

In the millennium division, Society of Aerospace Engineers of the Philippines (SAEP), stopped the 3-peat of IIEE. IIEE was led by the seasonede MVP Rodnnie Orozco and mythical team Gilbert Torres. SAEP was led by final MVP and mythical five Jerome Kristian Josol and Ian Carlo Austria and the defensive five who also won the sportsmanship award, Floren John Villareal. Completing the awardee for mythical five are Kevin Villaflores and Janvic Barral of IECEP. Others in the defensive five were Jong Eugenio of PSME, Janry Pomarejos of IIEE, Norman Rafael Gaviola of IECEP and Ernesto Galang of Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines (GEP). GEP won over PSME to place 3rd.
Meanwhile in the exhibition match, the IIEE-PTC genX National officer team held its ground against an all-star millennial team winning by a basket 100-98. The IIEE-PTC was led by FNPres. Feliciano Flores Padua III, NPres. Alberto Reyes Herrera , National Vice President for Internal affairs Robert Mabulay , FNPres Allan Alvarez, Publication chairman Marvin Caseda with Melendres and PSME Vice President for Luzon Jon Jimenez. The all-star millennial is led by GEP Galang, Addun and Maggay with IECEP Barral and Villaflores.

“The basketball championship event culminates the local sportfest in the Philippines today, March 29 but the World Engineering day will have its international version on March 30 in UAE. We are happy to see the expanding number of teams participating in the tournament with teams from IIEE, IECEP, PSME, GEP and SAEP and hoping that other engineering association will join the 4th edition in 2026,” said Agu of IECEP who hosted the event.-Marlon Bernardino-
