Joepher Montaño Ready to Challenge Ben Mahoney in IBF Intercontinental Battle May 13 in Australia

PhilBoxing.com

Awesome chance! Skilled Filipino southpaw Joepher "El Gwapito" Montaño has just been scheduled to challenge undefeated Australian Ben Mahoney for the IBF Intercontinental Super Welterweight Belt.

The exciting 10-round title clash is set for Tuesday, May 13, at the Gold Coast Convention Centre in Broadbeach, Queensland, Australia - Mahoney's hometown.

Montaño, 28, from Bago, Negros Occidental, has a fantastic opportunity! He boasts an impressive record of 19 wins, 5 losses, and 2 draws, with 17 of those wins coming by way of knockout.

As a seasoned pro, Joepher Montaño has been in boxing action since 2015, competing in international wars and snagging multiple regional titles, including the WBO Oriental Welterweight belt, the ABF title, and the WBC Asian Boxing Council Super Lightweight strap.

Born in Negros Occidental, Montaño's love affair with boxing began at a young age.

“El Gwapito” quickly got involved in amateur tournaments in the Visayas region before turning pro ten years ago.

With his southpaw stance, heart, strength, skills, and international experience, Joepher Montaño is a total 100% danger for the taller Ben Mahoney.

Two of Joepher Montaño’s most notable fights include his TKO victory over Kulbir Dhaka in Dubai in 2022, which earned him the WBO Oriental Welterweight title, and his WBO Oriental round 2 KO win over Atchariya Wirojanasunobol last year in Thailand.

When he's not training, Montano is active on Facebook and social media, sharing updates about his training and personal life.

He's also passionate about giving back to his community, particularly in his hometown.

With this big IBF title fight ahead, Montano's fans are 100% rooting for him, eager to see him emerging victorious.

The 29-year-old Benjamin “Ben” Mahoney feels confident that he is faster that Joepher.

Ben boasts an undefeated record of 15 wins, 0 losses, and 1 draw, with 8 of those wins coming by way of knockout.

His most recent fight was last January 8 in his hometown of Gold Coast where he secured a ten-round unanimous decision victory against Chinese boxer Fan Zhang (8-3-1, 5 KOs).

Mahoney is known for his aggressive fighting style and ability to come forward. So, Montaño might have to counter him with good timing, and his quick and effective right jab could be key.

Two of Ben Mahoney’s notable achievements include winning the IBF Pan Pacific Super Welterweight title, and claiming the Australian Super Welterweight strap.

As a rising star in Australian boxing, Mahoney is confident in his abilities, but could he be able to handle the power and skills of the talented Joepher Montaño?

The stage is set for an exciting and crucial match between Joepher Montano and Ben Mahoney.

At the end of the night, will Montano's southpaw stance, skills, and power be enough to dominate and defeat Mahoney in his own backyard?

Or will the local favorite proved to be too good and too smart?

One thing for sure: this fight is going to be an absolute thrilling match!!

“Mahoney VS Montaño” is a supporting bout for the IBF 200-pound World Title clash of Australian world Champion Jai Opetaia (27-0, 21 KOs) defending against unbeaten Italian challenger Claudio Squeo (17-0, 9 KOs).

Billed as “Return 2 Paradise,” the may 13 event is promoted by Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing in association with GoldStar and Tasman Fighters, live on DAZN.

May the Best Men Win!
