HALL OF FAME FLIES FLAGS AT HALF-STAFF FOR JOURNALIST COLIN HART

CANASTOTA, NY - MARCH 24, 2025 - The International Boxing Hall of Fame announced its flags will fly at half-staff in memory of Hall of Fame journalist Colin Hart, who passed away Saturday at the age of 89.
“During the course of his Hall of Fame career Colin Hart traveled the world covering the sport of boxing from ringside and his unique take on the bouts and boxers was highly respected by readers and colleagues alike,” said Executive Director Edward Brophy. “The Hall of Fame offers our condolences to the Hart family and joins the boxing world in mourning his passing.”
Born in 1935 in West Ham in East London, Hart began covering boxing for the Daily Herald in 1964. After The Herald folded, he was boxing correspondent for The Sun. His first assignment in America for the paper was the Ali – Frazier “Fight of the Century” at Madison Square Garden on March 8, 1971. During the course of his career he covered boxing around the world, sitting ringside for fights involving George Foreman, Sugar Ray Leonard, Ken Buchanan, Joe Calzaghe, Lennox Lewis and Ricky Hatton. Known as “The Voice of Boxing” Hart is the first British writer to win the prestigious Nat Fleischer Award for “Excellence In Boxing Journalism” from the BWAA.
In 2013, Hart was elected into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
